What We Do

“Before A2N-Uganda set foot in this sub-county, we did not have enough food for the 5 members of the household and there was no income or means to fend for my family. I made sure I attended all A2N-Uganda’s trainings with my wife. Well, what can I say now? The income we gain from our vegetable project has enabled us to acquire more land and household property such as a cow that will enable us to further increase farm yields by providing manure. We have also been able to improve our diet. I thank A2N-Uganda for all this and ask you to continue assisting the majority of our poor rural people.

– Aloyzi Mbonyebyombi, farmer, Busanza sub-county, Kisoro district.

Inspired by our vision and mission, A2N-Uganda is dedicated to transforming households from peasantry farming into sustainable farming by empowering smallholder farmers so that their farms are ecologically viable and economically rewarding.

In this aim, our programme employs a holistic approach to tackling rural poverty by promoting:
Well-managed farmer organisations

-Promoting organic agriculture among partner farmers for food security and household income generation
-Distribution of improved high value crops and animal breeds
-Low cost agricultural and processing technologies
-Enterprise development and marketing of farmers produce
-Energy conservation
-Water harvesting
-Equal opportunities for both men and women
-HIV/AIDS and health awareness
-Exposure/exchange visits and information sharing.
