A2N-Uganda has been working in Kisoro since 2001 and is currently implementing the Kisoro Sustainable Agriculture Project with support from the Government of Austria through Horizont 3000 and the Integrated Project on the Conservation of Echuya Forest Reserve with support from MacArthur Foundation through Intenational Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE).

Facts about Kisoro:
- Kisoro is a mountainous district located in the south-western region of Uganda and has 1 county and 14 sub-counties
- Main languages are Kifumbira and Rukiga
- Population is estimated at 253,447 of which 90% live in rural areas as subsistence farmers
- Traditional agricultural implements such as hand hoe, axes and pangas are used
- Agricultural problems are deforestation, soil degradation, post harvest losses, poor farming methods, poor marketing infrastructure, low level of technology and management skills, lack of credit facilities and poor extension services.
- Crops grown are bananas, beans, and sorghum, maize, Irish potatoes and sweet potatoes.
- Main cash crops are tobacco, arabica coffee and sugarcane but some peas, Irish potatoes, cabbages, onions and tomatoes are also sold for income
